In January 2006 we closed the shop in Pitfield Street but continue to
sell online from this web site and at Farmers Markets.
Customers can collect orders by prior arrangement from the Farmers Markets we are at if they want to save paying a delivery charge, call for details.

'The Beer Shop' now supplies over 500 different beers from around the world and a large range of Home Brewing and Wine Making supplies. We also have a vast range of Beer Memorabilia from pump clips to beer mats (call for details).

Pitfields Organic Brewery
We have been brewing a range of organic beers since April 2000. We have also introduced the historic range of beers brewed to old recipes, we are now converting this range to organic as well. The beers are available both in cask and bottles.

Pitfield Brewery has found itself a new home on the Essex, Suffolk borders at London Road, Great Horkesley CO6 4AJ, just outside Colchester.

The New larger site will enable us to expand our wholsale trade including other breweries beers and also our retail internet sales.

Our larger site has enabled us to expand into both Cider and Perry production with our new Farmhouse Cider and Fred's Perry brands, which now takes our range of Beers & Ciders to 15.

'The Beer Shop' was founded in 1980 in Pitfield Street London N1 and started selling beer from the real ale revival. A five barrel (180 gallon) brewery was installed and the first brew produced was 'Pitfield Bitter'.

The brewery was successful and other beers were produced. 'Dark Star' was introduced in 1985 and in 1987 won the title of 'Best New Beer' and came runner up in 'The Champion Beer of Britain.' The following year (1988) it was awarded 'The Supreme Champion Beer of Britain.' It has now been
renamed 'Black Eagle'.

In the summer of 1996 'The Beer Shop' moved into larger premises, further up Pitfield Street. The 'Pitfield Brewery' in one shop and 'The Beer shop' next door.

Due to changes to our lease and problems with customers being unable to park due to parking restrictions, we decided to relocate the Pitfield Brewery and run the Beer Shop as an online store delivering direct to your door.
